Dry needling is one of the many physiotherapy treatment techniques available at our practice. Dry needling is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles. Acupuncture-type needles are placed into muscle ‘trigger points’ to treat the musculoskeletal and nervous system based on neuroanatomy science. A trigger point is a hyper-irritable point in skeletal muscle the can be felt as a tight band or nodule in the muscle. The acupuncture needles are inserted into these trigger points, resulting in a chain of reactions that increases blood flow and corrects muscle dysfunction.
Dry needling is currently offered at our clinic by physiotherapists Tom Henry and Jade Basham.
